 1) What exactly is an ePrint?

An ePrint is an electronic file encrypted with DRM (Digital Rights Management) security to control whether or not the Adobe Reader will open or print the ePrint depending on the permissions granted to the end user by the publisher.

 2) Why am I unable to open the ePrint?

A) Make sure you follow steps 1 and 2 on the ePrint delivery page.
B) Check your internet connection, you need to have a live connection to open your ePrint.
C) Make sure you have installed the Adobe Acrobat Security Plug-in.
D) Make sure you have access privileges to properly download and install the Plug-in.
E) Access privileges may have expired. Please contact your sales representative to renew.

 3) Why do I need to download an Adobe Acrobat Plug-In just to access my ePrint?

The Adobe Systems framework for providing DRM (Digital Rights Management) tools for Acrobat is their "Security Handler" plug-in architecture. The plug-in needed for accessing your ePrint is safe, only needs to be installed once, and allows us to produce secure electronic files according to the trusted Adobe PDF specification. These guidelines prohibit securing content other than through the use of a plug-in. The client plug-ins are extremely small (approximately 400Kb in an installer).

 4) Do I need to be connected to the internet in order to access my ePrint?

Yes, the connection is necessary to access the permissions server that allows you to view and print, depending on your access privileges.

 5) Why can't I print my ePrint?

A) Check your internet connection, you need to have a live connection to print your ePrint.
B) Access privileges may have expired or permission may be denied. Please contact your sales representative to renew or confirm.

 6) Can I email my ePrint to someone else?

In most cases, yes. This depends on the type of ePrint you have ordered. Be sure to let your sales representative know how you intend to use and/or distribute the ePrint you are purchasing.

 7) Can I place the ePrint onto my web page?

You can store the ePrint on your web server and link to it as you would any other file. You can also place the link on your webpage, while the electronic file would remain on our server. We can also lock the file so it can only be accessed from your web server and not downloaded and distributed. Be sure to let your sales representative know how you intend to use and/or distribute the ePrint you are purchasing.

We recommend that you link to your ePrint using a pop-up window that provides easy to follow instructions. For details, please see our Webmaster help page.

 8) Why can't I download the ePrint from a web page?

The permissions set on the ePrint may be set to view from the web site only, without allowing end users to download. Please contact your sales representative if you wish to purchase a downloadable ePrint.

 9) Why can't I re-save my ePrint?

The permissions on the ePrint are set so that no changes can be made to the document. You can save a shortcut to the ePrint on your hard drive and use according to the permissions granted (unless the ePrint has been locked to a specific Web site or network).

 10) Do I need to install the plug-in every time I view an ePrint?

No, once you install the security plug-in once, you will not need to install it again.

 11) Are there any special system requirements for the DRM technology to work properly?

To view your ePrint you will need to have Adobe Acrobat (or Acrobat Reader) version 5 or above. Your operating system should be at least Windows 98T (PC) or Mac OS9. Your ePrint cannot be viewed using any other viewing applications.

 12) Where do I find my ePrint number?

Your ePrint number can be found to the right of the equal sign in the link provided in your email message. Be sure to include any and all underscores.
